Daily Reading Ephesians 3 January 15 2010

Day 3

All God's Word is wonderful to read but this is another rich illustration of just how much God loves us. Enjoy your reading today and remember to pray the promises you read over yourself and others.

Ephesians 3:1-13 NIV

1 For this reason I, Paul, the prisoner of Christ Jesus for the sake of you Gentiles–
2 Surely you have heard about the administration of God's grace that was given to me for you,3 that is, the mystery made known to me by revelation, as I have already written briefly.4 In reading this, then, you will be able to understand my insight into the mystery of Christ,5 which was not made known to men in other generations as it has now been revealed by the Spirit to God's holy apostles and prophets. 6 This mystery is that through the gospel the Gentiles are heirs together with Israel, members together of one body, and sharers together in the promise in Christ Jesus. 7 I became a servant of this gospel by the gift of God's grace given me through the working of his power.8 Although I am less than the least of all God's people, this grace was given me: to preach to the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ,9 and to make plain to everyone the administration of this mystery, which for ages past was kept hidden in God, who created all things.10 His intent was that now, through the church, the manifold wisdom of God should be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly realms,11 according to his eternal purpose which he accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord.12 In him and through faith in him we may approach God with freedom and confidence.
13 I ask you, therefore, not to be discouraged because of my sufferings for you, which are your glory.

  • Throughout today's reading Paul speaks of the mystery of the gospel and how it was not revealed until Christ came. He speaks about the plan being made known. We live in the dispensation of the grace of God and we know of His love and grace toward not only Israel but also toward all who would believe. The Apostle Paul's position in this was to let the gentiles know that Jesus died for all! Praise God He died for me and you regardless of race, family blood line, status and with out regard to any other prerequisite.

  • V. 10 shows the importance of the church and that God created the church to be a united body made up of like-minded individuals. Not elite and slaves, but that all would be equal because He saved us all with the same measure of grace. This passage speaks again of the authority of the church. It demonstrates again that Jesus has put all principalities and powers under His feet and under the dominion of the church. We have been given the keys to the Kingdom. We have been given the right to bind and loose. We can pray the prayer of agreement in unity and God will respond to our prayers.

Matthew 18: 18-20
18 “I tell you the truth, whatever you bind on earth will bebound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven. 19 “Again, I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven.20 For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them.”

  • V. 11 Reminds us that we can "come boldly to the throne of grace" (Hebrews 4:16). We have been granted access to the Holy of Holies. Our Priesthood was established when Jesus went to the Cross and the veil separating man from God was torn into and was made irreparable.   Now we can know for sure that nothing can separate us from the Love of God!

Romans 8:38-39
38For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
