Daily Reading March 12 2010 from 2 Timothy 3:10-17 NIV

Day 61

It appears I posted today's post yesterday so to remedy the mistake I am posting yesterday's scripture post today. Sorry for the confusion.

2 Timothy 3:10-17 NIV
10 You, however, know all about my teaching, my way of life, my purpose, faith, patience, love, endurance,11 persecutions, sufferings–what kinds of things happened to me in Antioch, Iconium and Lystra, the persecutions I endured. Yet the Lord rescued me from all of them.12 In fact, everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted,13 while evil men and impostors will go from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived.14 But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it,15 and how from infancy you have known the holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.16 All Scripture is God‑breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17 so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

But as for you!
Paul begins this section talking about what Timothy has witnessed in his life. His teachings, faith, love, persecutions, etc... He then adds "yet the Lord rescued me from all of them" Paul continues by saying that everyone who lives for God will be persecuted for the cause. Paul them begins to talk of evil men and how they continue to grow more and more evil as they are deceived. The next line is where I wish to focus today. "But as for you", Continue, keep going, don't stop, don't get discouraged or sidetracked. Continue in what you have learned, continue in the Word which Paul says "are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus." Sometimes staying on track is very difficult. We start out chasing after God because of this new found relationship and if not careful our fire begins to dim. We have to continue to dwell on the great gift we have been given and continue communing with God. Continue having intimate alone time with Him, times of quiet, and personal worship sessions. Continue being thankful even in times of difficulty. Paul emphasized continuing in the holy Scriptures because as he says "all Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness so that the man of God must be thoroughly equipped. We can often tell where we are in our relationship with God by our daily reading and prayer time. Are you continuing in this relationship, growing daily in the Word and prayer time? Are you continuing by reading the Word and thus growing your faith?

Romans 10:17 Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word of Christ. NIV

But as for you and me we must continue with God staying hot and not luke-warm, pursuing God.

Blessings,

Pastor Larry
